Metal powder bed Additive Layer Manufacturing (ALM)

Materials Solutions operates five fibre laser equiped EOS M270 metal powder bed Additive Layer Manufacturing (ALM) machines- also known as (DLD) Direct Laser Deposition. The fibre laser has excellent stability and reliability and achieves full melting of all metals. The terms DMLS- Direct Metal Laser Sintering or SLS- Selective Laser Sintering are now misnomers and have led to some confusion when applied to the current generation machines which achieve full melting, not just sintering.

We were the first in the UK to have this capability and since 2006 have built a World Class competence building large and complex parts and with a dedicated machine shop we can supply finished parts to your .stl file and drawing.

The EOS M270 produces 100% dense functional parts in stainless steels such as 316L,17-4 and 15-5, CoCr, Ni based alloys such as Hastolly X, C263, Inco 625, 718 718Plus and C1023. It has unrivalled build accuracy and surface finishes.
