Materials Solutions is moving

As many of you are aware, Materials Solutions will be relocating to new premises in a few months time. 

Fitting out the new facility

The construction project to fit out our new facility in Worcester is now underway. Work commenced on site two weeks ago and is planned to complete in January 2010. The scope of this work is to turn a new empty shell into the functional spaces we require. Almost one third of the area of the building will be used to provide office and meeting spaces, an entrance lobby and associated facilities. Office accommodation is open plan and of similar area to our current facility. The remaining two thirds of the building will be allocated to manufacturing space; in the interests of flexibility this space will also be largely open plan.

Equipment layout will reflect a linear workflow through this space. Where enclosed spaces are needed, e.g. for secure storage, inspection & metrology rooms, etc., these will be created using a modular industrial partitioning system which will readily adapt to any future requirements. The final aspect of the project will be the installation of the necessary mechanical and electrical services: heating, ventilation, lights, power, IT network, compressed air, etc. 

Timing

Current planning is as follows:

• Manufacturing capacity will cease at the end of December.
• Preparations for the move will occupy January, Weeks 1 & 2.
• Building hand-over is sheduled for 15th January.
• Physical relocation & recommissioning will take place January, Weeks 3 & 4.
• Manufacturing capacity will resume February, Week 5.

There should be minimal disruption to e-mail and phone communications during this period.
